I just received a call from my contact for DOD surplus for transfer to FD. Apparently new policy is being put into place were FD can obtain HMMWV under the FFP program. IE FD will receive title to the truck. Will not have to be returned to DRMO for demil/destruction down the road. Begin in early Dec.
If correct this is a huge change for DRMS. Thousands of early M998 surplus, used and rebuilt, and FD will not be able to use all. SO will DRMS be selling excess???
