Converting a S250 carrier M1097A2 into a SECM, didnt have the half doors that are needed with the maint bed, so next best thing is to engi-nerd your own.
Only store bought items are the hinges and a 3/4" nut, the rest of the parts came off the truck.
Grind off the rivets that hold the support panel on lower quarter of the filler panel as it interferes with the swing of the door and not required, I may cut it down later to give structure back to the panel.
Use existing bolts and holes to mark and bolt hinge to filler panel. used the skrews from tarp securement anchors to bolt hinges to the panel

Cut off original bolt holes along the rib in panel and notch for hinge to swing.

Weld big nut on OEM skrew that mounts panel to fender, next one will have wings on the nut to facilitate the rotation of the spring loaded bolt. I also use the OEM lower catch to hold the bottom of the door in.

Final test fit on the 998 that is 'storing' the SECM until the 1097 is ready. 1" weatherstripping on inside will keep the rattles down, it fits fairly snug with the spring bolt and lower catch holding it in place.
