had it towed out of Mechanicsburg about 90 miles west to a Karl's place, again thank you for letting me bring it your way. first id just like to say if anyone is looking to have something towed out around this site give a call to Jerry's Towing. Jerry was very patient with the hold ups at GL and even after being an hour longer and 15miles more than his quote he still stuck by it, not to mention that he was half the price of anyone else i talked to. rest assured i compensated him for his efforts and for making this a much better experience than it could have been.

as for the load out, after getting on base with little effort finding the right person at GL was annoying and time consuming. this was my first trip there and the lack of clear markings and some uninformed employees caused me to wait with the wrecker for 45min before i was finally pointed in the right direction.

once we got to the truck we found it as i had expected with the tarp shredded, as it was not this way at time of purchase i politely asked about any means of reimbursement. this obviously lead to both the GL site worker and myself laughing. i then pointed to a row of fresh trucks, long story short id like to thank the employee, i shall remain nameless, for his assistance in sourcing me a new tarp. for the record these had just come in, wasn't looting someones purchase.

after arriving at Karl's place we got down to the nitty gritty, checked fluids, drained the fuel tank, added 5 gal fresh diesel, and fresh wal mart special batteries and it fired up almost instantly!! very smooth and very quiet! oil pressure and air pressure came up after a few seconds. blowing some white smoke but could be condensation in the fuel system so ill run it and see.

brakes are a no go but im thinking master cylinder. got a thread for that...

hopefully have it fully functional and home in a week or two.

Pictures to come shortly

Take your time you'll get the brake fixed and be :driver: shortly.

Also, i would change all the axle, tc, and trans spring vents. Change all the gear lubein every thing, change the air filter, fuel filters, oil while your there.

air filter is new just 100 miles ago according to the info on it and it looks it too, i already pulled the vents from the rear axles to clean em. the gear lube ill check before bringing it home but i don't have the cash at the moment to address a change out and im taking up room that has so graciously been lent to me so im in no position to do that if i dont need to. i will check levels and see if the gear oil is good of course.

Dan, It's fine where it sits. I can get my trucks in and out of the garage.
I will read up on how to repair the brake issues as well. We will get it repaired and back to your home.
I just hope your Deuce stays away from my Deuce. I dont want any little suprises later.

we did to be safe, prob could have just put the t-case in neutral but the wrecker opperator said he'd seen transmissions and transfer cases burn out that way. somthing about the oil running to the back and smoking the input shaft seal. only took a min or two, just disconnected it from the front tandem and used a strap to keep it off the ground.

Hey guys, does anyone know if this is typical of how things go when buying a Deuce from Mechanicsburg? Me and some friends have been considering getting some from there but are wondering in what condition they are normally in and also how we would get them back home, to New York. Thanks
