Just got off the phone with Carnac. He is broke down on highway 66, in Va at exit #13. This leaves him 13 miles west of I-81. He has broken off the RF lugs and will need new lugs, nuts, a large hub socket, and anything thing else you can think of. If you are in the area or can assist please call. I will be in contact with him as needed. I called and left a message at the home of a local member to see if he can help..

While I can't help, this may spark something that COULD help someone in the future. What about a list of names, locations and phone #'s of people willing to offer their services should someone be broken down? On an Oldsmobile website I used to be a part of, they maintained a similar list.

What is the underlying issue? Flat tire, wheel bearing?
I have the 3" axle nut socket, special keyed washer, one bearing locknut, and three lug nuts I can overnight. Need to let me know before 2PM EST.
I'll PM you my cell ph#

Is there someone with a FWTD or a wrecker who can get him to a point where the studs can be replaced? Stud replacement isn't difficult on one of these.

He's right by me - I might be able to help get him some parts, researching that now, but I cannot tow him anywhere with the front like that. Will advise....

In the case of oilcan, a leaky seal, lots of offroading= muddy looking grease which caused complete inner wheel bearing failure and the tire blowing at highway speeds!!! I was driving at the time, big pucker factor!!

When wheel studs break off. most of the time it's because the lug nuts got loose. The constant pounding of the wheel against the studs, sheers them off. Check wheel tightness often to prevent this.

HEY ALL, I am now at my parents house. Truck is fixed.

Thanks to everyone that helped. Mike had already researched the part and was getting ready to head for NAPA when Daniel called and said he was on the way with a complete hub.

Thanks to Clint and Dudley for the commo support by getting me phone numbers for my expanding phone book.

And thanks to everyone for the concern.

Heading out the door for the show.

Take care

CARNAC

Excellent!!!!!

Another fine example of a "community" pulling together to help out one of it's own. That's something you just don't get in this day and age!
