Looking at bidding on dual tandem flat bed trailier on GL. The trailier looks to have air brakes on it. Are the brakes on without air or off without air? Looking on how to get it home, will be pulled w/01 or 06 dodge diesel.

Thanks

Well it depends.. it if is Air over hydro there are OFF when there is no Air supplied. If it is full Air brakes the brakes are ON when there is no air supplied. Maybe a model number or a quick picture/TM search on Google will help you. Just sayin....

I will check it out first, just tring to get my ducks in a row. Could a air tank be used to open the brakes just to get it home?
Or how could one over ride the system to tow it home? Any idea what PSI would be needed to open the system?

If it has air brakes then you should be able to cage the brakes to move it. I believe its normally just a bolt you screw in to release the brakes.

What size is the truck your going to pull with, looks like a heavy trailer to pull without trailer brakes

It will probably just tow outright, but if not, just cage the brakes.

Your 3/4 ton truck should do it. Just stay away from stop signs and lights, even if you have to drive further.

On a side note, you do realize you are advertising your trailer at auction. I would love to have it, did not know about it, and would probably bid on it now (except knowing you want it so bad) if not to far away, so be careful to protect your business. Others may not be so gracious.

Tell someone your business, and they will steal your business. Tip for the day. Good luck on your bids. I hope it works out for ya! Great trailer!!!

Tongue weight is the real issue. If it doesn't pull the front tires off the ground it sure will make the steering dangerously
'light". If you buy it, hire someone with a real truck to pull it;IE: sized to pull safely, correctly wired for full lights and equipped with the proper air brakes. Why take the chance ruining your new purchase and adventure with potentially fatal consequences for anyone riding with you. Ounce of prevention and all that.

Looked at that auction, the nice piece of info he left out is it's missing a hub assembly, so only 3 tires on the ground, not exactly safe even with a bigger truck!!

Depending on what model the trailer is, it can weigh 26,000 lbs. If the truck will move it, it won't stop it. Take Ghill55 advise and get it moved with the proper equipment. Extremely dangerous!!! Think liability Additionally DOT will hang you out to dry.

I only say the 'ounce of.....' thing because in my younger days I was foolish enough to haul around an 8'x24' heavy equipment trailer with electric brakes with my 3/4 ton Suburban. Pushed me all over the place. There was one time coming down a gravel grade, banked towards the cliff and river ('we don't need no stinkin guard rails') - took almost a week to get the seatcover and 1/2 the bench seat removed from my back side. Sold it right after that experience. God looks out for Fools, Drunks & Children - I don't drink but I sure fit the other 2 at times.

Hire it moved. Towing that with a pickup is a stupid idea. (sorry, could not think of a better description than stupid)

Why do you want/need a trailer you don't have a proper sized truck to use with?
