This is the final resting place before being shipped to the scrapper. There are many Russian vehicles and a few American vehicles. I found four M809 series 5 tons sitting out in the mud, one tractor and three cargo trucks. I plan on taking a few parts off the tractor (since it's in the best shape and not sitting in the sloppy mud). When did the 800 series 5 tons go from air over hydraulic to air brakes? I'll post some more pictures of other items in the yard.

Careful with taking parts off. You dont want to get caught shipping parts back that you dont have permission to have.

Edit: The 800 series did not go to full air brakes that I'm aware of. Those would be 900 series trucks.

M 809 with straight air brakes? I remember seeing two 813s so equipped in the early 1990s. Tacom must have been evaluating a kit to convert them to wedge brakes such as a 900 series uses and did not widely implement the
plan.thbey had the same brake pedal and foundation brake used on the 900s.

I was at Taji in 05 & 06 and I used to go up to the bone yard a goof off once in a while. I have hundreds of pics on a hard drive. I'll dig it out and post a few on here.

My profile pic was taken in the Eastern yard next to the FARP.

Taji has a HUGE bone yard. Be careful what you take as the Iraqi army uses the boneyard for parts to keep there vehicles running. I wish I had spent more time exploring that bone yard when I was in taji for a year. I did not have the OD fever back then though.
