Anyone know the timken bearing numbers for the gear hubs? I have a couple of gear hubs that look suspect, and figured I might as well rebuild all 4 during the chassis build.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
please advise the source on those bearing at that price....I buy them monthly for the shop, I have never been able to find them at that price, timkin especially brings a premium, the majority of bearings, National, SKF are Chinese, Japan or Mexico, they are cheaper, still not at those prices...and remember, you are supposed to do the bearing and cone at the same time, allot of these numbers are Bearing only.I have been meaning to post back on this topic, actually wasn't sure if it was desired info.
Upper/input bearings for the small gear are timken LM104949 $7.55
Lower/ouput bearings for the large gear:
smaller of the 2- timken 3780 $18.79
larger of the 2- timken 3490 $23.79
For a total of $57.68 in bearings to rebuild a gear hub add a $25 seal kit and you are looking at well under $100 a gear hub for a rebuild. It really makes that guy on ebay selling the kit for $250 look like a tool.
ETA: These prices are from rockauto.com
Thanks, guy for all the info it's just what I needed also but what about the seals? I have only one bad wheel seal but like you figure what the heck might as well get them all done while I'm at it. Thanks for any info you may have on the seals and part numbers?I posted at the bottom....these prices are timken bearings from www.rockauto.com
