Glow plug tip stuck!

I have always wanted a HMMWV. Got one about 2 months ago. Determined previous owner had just replaced glow plugs 2 months earlier and they were the cheapo fake plugs. I ordered a new set from Hummer Parts Guy. 2 of the old plugs had already swollen and would not pull out so I bought a removal tool. 1st one came out with ease. 2nd one broke off and is now stuck in head. I have pulled injector and can feel it with my finger but it will not come out. I even bored a small hole thru kick panel and tried to drive it out with a small steel rod with no luck. I have searched forum but cant find anything about the tip being stuck. (It is stuck, not broken off in chamber...that would easy)

I did think maybe I could get a 10x1.0 bolt and thread it in to push out the tip - but I am not sure if the glow plug hole is threaded all the way into the chamber.

What can I do to get this tip out so that I can put a new plug in? Or should I just plug the hole and operate on 7 plugs? Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. I was so happy to get my HMMWV but now I am so bummed out!

With the cable popped off the injector pump solenoid cranking it over a few times with the injector out you may find that whatever is loose in the precup will get spit out the injector hole.

I've heard from many military mechanics who said when the glow plugs got stuck they just broke em off and let the engine melt 'em down and crunch 'em up.

The Chinese glow plugs get a lot of shade for swelling, but reality is all glow plugs can swell... even the non swelling kind. I personally feel it has more to do with these often wonky start boxes than it does the country of origin on the glow plugs. I say that because I've been running Kung Flu Glow Plugs for over a year and they've been fine.. but I also have a manual glowplug controller.

Problem solved! I found a thread on this site using google about how to bore out an old glow plug and use it as a drill bit guide. The link is below and thank you Sally Strothers! I bored a small hole in the passenger side fire wall aligned with the glow plug hole, used a bit extension and bored it out.....broke a few bits and it was a pain and takes time but finally the tip came loose...and I had a greased cotton ball in the chamber and forceps locked on the tip. Now I can sleep again :)
