I recently came into possession of two GMC XM211, both have their waxed canvas tops and cargo covers but they all were sat in the bed.
To my understanding this canvas has been lying in the bed for the last 30 or so years and most appears to by dry rotted and rips easily.
Luckily I was able to find a decent cab top with some minor tears in the middle but again, it rips somewhat easily.
I was also able to find a cab rear without too many issues, no tears but I imagine it will rip similarly to the top.
and then there was a practically brand new cargo cover with absolutely zero issues.
I'm wondering what the best route of action is for the top and back canvas? Is there a way to rejuvenate the canvas and strengthen it? If there's no way to do that, is it best to just replace these pieces?
I'd like to try my hand at possibly recreating one, if need be, but I couldn't manage to find any 18oz waxed canvas sold by yardage.
I'll attach some photos down the line
Any help and knowledge is appreciated, Thanks!
