Has anybody found an adaptor for an aftermarket steering wheel?

I was able to get the steering wheel off with some wrestling and grease, but not able to find an adaptor that fit the spindles correctly. I want something smaller that makes it easier to get in and out of. I've seen pictures of aftermarket steering wheels on HMMWVs, but not sure how they got them on there.

Is your tilt column all the way up? The height is adjustable on some, via a curved slot.

Yes. It's all the way up. I have aftermarket seats that have a little more cushion and it would be great to have another inch or two on the bottom of the steering wheel.

my 1995 m998 came with a smaller steering wheel? Have you checked into a smaller m998 wheel?

If incorrect, I apologize, but I am pretty sure the steering wheel end is Standard GM spline and thread. It just doesn't have the stupid lock plate. If that is correct then ANY aftermarket wheel should fit. I like Grant because their adapter is about an inch and a half thick. So unless you have a pony keg over your six pack ( like I do ) it will move the wheel farther from your thighs, but closer to your belly.

I thought a gm truck adaptor from the same year should work too, but it didn't look like it wanted to go in there and I didn't want to mess it up. It did look like the truck had one gap in the spline that the adaptor didn't have. I figured somebody on here figured it out and got one on there. I had called a hummer parts guy to see if he had anything and he knew a lot about the trucks and said something about the spline maker for the trucks being from the same manufacturer as Mercury? He wasn't sure though as to what would match.

I It did look like the truck had one gap in the spline that the adaptor didn't have.

Was the truck missing the gap or the tooth? If it was missing the tooth then it shouldn't matter on the adapter. If the truck was missing the gap or has a double wide tooth then the adapter won't fit.

did you try an adapter forr an H1. That is about the only other vehicle from the same manufacturer. This isnt a GM truck! Try ford escort...

Anyone have a better solution for mounting a Momo wheel (with horn button) to a HMMWV?

I bought the Momo adapter (part #4513) for the H1 but it adds a few inches in length making it pretty much unusable on HMMWV as the steering wheel would be in your chest with the limited driver space in a HMMWV.

Guys at my local shop suggested cutting the basket off the Momo adapter and drilling and tapping the main part of the adapter ring. The ring is not magnetic so it is likely cast aluminium.

We would also need to machine a spacer to stand the adapter off the stem to allow room for the horn wiring. Kind of a messy solution.

The outer diameter of a Humvee A2 steering wheel is 14". I think that is smaller than the original Steering Wheel.

My 96 H1 has a HMMWV steering wheel with a cover over the center. Horn is on the end of the turn signal stalk. Its a small wheel.
