Just bought my first M1009 and totaly love it. Have been looking through the web site but cant find out about electical system in side the cab or for the lights. Are they 12v or 24v and if so what will happen if I use the wrong voltage. Dont want to burn it to the ground just yet ( need to pay for it first ). Really need all the help I can get. Thank you.

please keep in mind Im not the sharpest knife in the drawer! :cookoo:

Its all 12V besides the starter and one prong on the fuse block...
Keep looking its all listed here over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over.

That better?

Really come on. A simple search would have answered his question (not saying its not ok to post a question) Even a look in the TM would have found info.... Multi meeter and 10 minuets poking around, Just standing back and trying to do a little work for ones self is a good way to figure things out and get to know your truck.

Thank for the smart _ss reply WESTECH . I was hoping the army at SS was just a little more professional than that, but thats what you get when you assume something. Though that it was a reassonable question didn't expect a dumb answer.

Sorry about the attitude but Im on my own on this and was serious about not wanting to burn this mother to the ground!

WESTECH is correct about everything being 12V except for the starter and a few other items like slave receptable...

A few tips since you're "new" and you WILL get your pee pee spanked around this "rigid" website:

1. Do a search first (especially in the CUCV forums)...
2. Download all the TMs...
3. Never try to post or mention something for sale in the forums...
4. It takes 100 posts to put something in the Classifieds...
5. Never do a link to a current GL or eBay auction...
6. No ZOMBIE THREADS!
I give you these "tips" because there are "deputized" moderators who troll around here looking for "newbies" to b*tchslap...

Good luck with your CUCV...

When I first came to this site I too thought Westech was a crabby old man, I didn't take long to understand 4800 out of his 5100+ post are answering the same question. Try using the search tool there really isn't a lot to these trucks and chances are any issue or question you have has been covered. Most of the time when you do find a post that covers your problem Westech, and Doghead, have both taken the time to answer all the questions. It's good to print the TM's and keep them with you at all times. I personally have never had to read them, I've always just been able to search any issue I've had. I do have them for when I'm out and about. Welcome to the site and post of pics or your new 09.

mikev, I want to thank you and let you know I take full responsablility for my actions and always have and will. Just wasn't expecting to be jurked around so fast. Now that I've calmed down and have stoped for some coffee, I promise to play nice with the other kids in the playground (although I did fail recess).

Once again thank you!!

Brett09 thanks for the tip ( although I have used the "search" feature ) still didnt realy find what I was looking for until I asked. I understand that the same questions get asked over and over and over and over and over... but I apparently aint the only one that that 1 didnt find or 2 was not sure. Already have a 10 foot stack of book and manuals I brought back from overseas.

Like I said realy not in the mood to ruin a perfect vehicle by crossing the wrong wire and starting a fire.

Do enjoy the pic of the baby and the rifle. AWSOME!!!!

Allin all thank you for all the great advice.

You're welcome!

Seriously, I got "spanked" too - so I pass my wisdom to you "Grasshopper"... and you'll learn who the "delta hotels" are (some who post in the CUCV section, but don't own one)...

Regardless, for all it's "quirks", this site is chocked full of CUCV info. Try to do a Google search for CUCV problems and many times you'll get "hits" that directs you right back to Steel Soldiers and your particular problem/issue.

Be advised that us CUCV owners are looked down by some of the "big truck" MV owners - maybe because the CUCVs are second in total postings after the Deuce guys...

Its 12volts. And what exactly is your main problem?? Use a volt meter to check things out. The truck is 95% 12volt.
