hmmwv guidance needed - first post

Found this forum last night, it's great! And I'm enjoying all the pics. About 15 years ago I restored a '75 CJ5 and now have the funds to start up a hmmwv project. They've been my favorite vehicle since I was a kid, when Arnold Schwarzenegger got one(first civilian owner?). But before I get my hopes up to high, I have a few questions. I'm on my search for my hmmwv, should I not waste my time trying to find one on GL? Wasn't sure if that's something that ever gets listed. I've seen private sales on various sites, some mention being titled, some not. I live in Ohio. Does anyone know if I drag one home one day, will I have the chance to drive it on the roads? I'm not interested really in a daily driver, just one for weekend driving...just for fun, maybe some 4x4ing...and then to start collecting all the various add ons for it. Thanks in advance for any comments. Again, great forum!

The gov does not release the HMMWV's anymore. Have to go through private sales.

Ohio, there are many that are licensed for road use. you can look in detail on here, on g503 or other sites.

You're in luck as the gaterhings are starting....

I am getting an M1043 into the shop next week...it has no top, engine,tranny or tcase.

I'd say your best bet is to look for one in Texas or Cali that was at least from my experience.. check at easternsurplus.net as well I believe out of PA. Good luck!
