Hood Damage!

It looks like someone was climbing on my M35A2 hood over at the Super Safe Self Storage and mashed in the hood. It's one large area right in the middle that's sunk in.
Not being much of a body guy, is there a good way to try popping this back out?
I thought about ramming it with a 4x4 chunk of wood with rounded corners so it wouldn't make "peaks" where I whanged it into the underside, but I'm kinda hesitant. I don't want to make things worse!
If anyone wants pics, I'll post some this afternoon.

raise the hood climb up there stand on the valve cover hold the hood and push it back into place with your foot should pop right back as long as its not creased

Find out who did it, open hood put the perp in and close real hard.

or you could stack some wood on top fo the engine and throw some blankets over it they push the hood closed .just make sure you are not putting pressure on anything on the engine that will get hurt like the manifold heater pump and coil

When I want to 'pop out" a thin layer of surface, of a somewhat large size, I get a good grip on a soccer or basket ball, look for center of the high point, and then hit it there. Usually pops/pushes it out without leaving marks.

Step 1- remove hood.
Step 2- place hood upside down in yard.
Step 3- jump on hood like madman on meth.
Step 4- installation is reverse of removal.



In all seriousness, it'll probably come out without much work if it isn't creased.

Super Safe Self Storage you say???? I think they need to refund your repair bill friom the body shop for straightening the hood out. Seeing as I weight 214 lbs and can sit just about anywhere on my hood, your perps were trying to dent it. I suggest tracking down perp, thumbcuff with electricians cable ties, and stuff perp under hood and close. Start engine. If perp survives, he'll never go anywhere near a deuce again......! I had the same problems with a--hole kids damaging a General Motors GP-9 roadswitcher I loaned to a museum, seems they couldn't leave the bullet proof windows and the not so bulletproof headlights alone. I was thinking of hiring Ernest Borgnine to reprise his role as "Shack" in Emperor of the North Pole.

I would suggest getting a body shop estimate for your friends at Safe Storage, as if it's a soft crease it may come out, but likely the metal's stretched and a body shop will have to fix it or you're gonna have to replace the hood to get it to look right.

The reason dents don't pop out perfectly is that they stretch the metal where the crease is.

The way to pop out dents is to have someone push on the back side, near the crease while you tap the high spot at the crease down. This method works much better than just pushing and banging with a hammer on the underside.
