How are the M1008 converting 24 volts down to 12 volts?

Hello Group...Just got a M1008 CUCV for my son...I have looked this engine compartment over and can not find how it is converting over to 12 volts...the manual is saying 12 volt to the glow plugs and to the lighting system...Can anyone shin some light on this issues for me...
