I got my M35 in August of 2001. It took me better than 8 months to find the right truck. I was 19 years old when I got my truck. I was inspired to get one after getting my first four wheel drive truck. I had 86' suburban 3/4 ton with a big block in it. I loved going off road, on trail rides, mudd'in, and camping. I wanted to get something that would be a really cool outstanding ride but, I did not want to be like everyone else (having a standard 4x4). I wanted something more!! I wanted a Deuce because this truck can do so much more stuff than a regular truck. Like hauling 5 tons on the road, running on any kind of fuel you put in it, being a 6x6, fording rivers, and driving through buildings; just to name a few things!! When I started looking around for my truck, I was hooked instantly into military vehicles. When I first got a good close look at a Deuce I was like "man this thing is nasty!!! real nasty, like this truck would climb a six foot wall"!! Being a gear head anyway this is one of my favorite hobbies, it fits right in with who I am and I'm glad I got into it!!!

I purchased my Deuce in 2002!

I looked at several other Military vehicles, before deciding on the M35A2.

I looked for about a year before I found the right Deuce!

My intention from the very beginning was to restore the truck to Military issue!

My first thought was to restore a Deuce to Vietnam colors, "O.D. with white stars"! Then I found this Deuce in 3 color CARC! WOW!

The rest is history!

We purchased our deuce in '02 but got it in September of '03. Pain in the #^&*@! waiting for approval, but well worth it. I had the privy of completely checking it out before bidding! She started and ran well, so I knew she was a winner. My wife and I agreed the truck is for our business, so she's a wonderful write-off! We knew we wanted a Deuce for our business since the fall of '02. She's a nice promotional tool and quite a bit of fun to drive and work on. We are not intending to use her for off-road except for some rare instances (WV get-together being one). I completely enjoy this truck!

We got our M35A2 in April of 2001. We paid for it March 2001 and picked it up in April 2001. Our is a 4 color camo. We us it for parades, military funerals and for fun. We also belong to the Georgia State Defense Force and we use it for events with them also. We also belong to the GAMVPA chapter and use it for that also. We really enjoy our truck.

I've got a 1967 Kaiser M35A2 with a winch, turbo and power steering in three color camo.

The engine has a plate on it that says it is a White with part number 11642105. I haven't seen this one mentioned on the forum, unless it's called somthing else.

I can't seem to insert the picture. I'll try it tomorrow on a faster connection at work.

Welcome!
Wow! Yours has power steering!?!?!?! That's a rarity! The White engine is exactly like the others except the nameplate. Sounds like you've got a real winner there! Can't wait to see the photos!

I have a White Turbo Diesel in my truck too!

The Military always goes with more than one contractor for any given project!

You will see all sorts of combinations used in these trucks!

It sounds like a nice Deuce! Post some pictures when you can get them to work!

P.S. If you go to Steelsoldiers Zone, Heavy Haulers, Deuce photos, you can have a look at my Deuce! AKA (BIG MONEY)!

Desert Rat,

The power steering is really nice in parking lots and other tight spots. It's an air assist unit and I don't think it kicks in on the highway when making less severe turns.
*********************

LH7,

The plate on my engine says 134 hp at 2600 rpm (it'll do 60 on the highway) does yours say the same. I'll check out your pictures.

Camotruck67,
Your power steering should work on the highway. It should just work a little bit, but the power steering I have noticed with my truck it has slightly more play in the steering. Which is fine, I put my power steering on four years ago and I have not had any problems!! Can't wait to see your pictures!!

Yes, my Deuce can do 60 mph! I have it singled out with Michelin Radial X 11:00 X 20's!

To help with the on road manners, I also have installed lock-out hubs on the front axle!

Both of these upgrades have dramaticly improved the driveability of the truck!

We can also run up to 60 mph. We have also put on the 1100 x 20 millitary tires for shows, etc. We also have the lock-out hubs on it and the whole truck runs on synthetic oils and lubrications. At a $1.66 a gallon for diesel and running on synthetic we can get pretty good mileage around town.

Just a reminder! Even if you can get 60+ mph out of your rig, it isn't a good idea to push them that hard!

As has been pointed out before on this esteemed list, 50 to 55 mph is a much better idea!

Getting the Deuce stopped at 60+ mph is another point to consider!

Drive safe and play nice with others!
