Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
.CUCVs were built from ’83-86 and GM produced some 70,000 of them for the military. For the past several years, GM Defense has been working over the newest GM trucks as CUCV-II and CUCV-III units for a new generation
I personally have seen one made at the end of 1986 (but was an 87 model year).Found this in just a few minutes with a Google search. Tons of interesting info came up. No clue if it's correct(gotta love the Internet)
.
To avoid the confusion that there seems to be, the CUCV model years are 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987. They were manufactured from fall 1983 to fall of 1986 per what is posted at Wikipedia. Model years production always starts the year before in the fall, so for example a 2011 is currently manufactured in 2010. I had two 1987 CUCV, one was manufactured 8/86 and other 9/86.
At first I was a little confused about my current 0h-nine. It's an 86 with a build date of 9/85. Only three months after my last oh-nine was built, 7/85. And I figured thats what the deal with the date was about......But thanks for the clairification guys.
How many do you think out of the 70k built that are still on the road?? Would be interesting to see.....and thats including the ones still being used by the services.
