Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
“Across the board, it is a matter of force protection,” he said. “(A decal) doesn’t always identify a vehicle as belonging to a Department of Defense employee, and just having the sticker can potentially make an individual a target.”FloridaAKM & Tow4 pretty much have hit the nail on the head. When you call GL to discuss the pick up of your auction wins the GL rep can tell you what will be required to get on base.
By the way, the Air Force stopped issuing vehicle decals some time ago. They only look at your ID now so that means everybody has to stop, even people who have military status (Reg/ Res/Retiree) It is my understanding that all branches were going to follow suit (Army, Navy & USMC) about no longer issuing vehicle decals and I guess it is true as I have had to stop at the main gate to get on base at recent visits I have made to FT Benning and FT Knox. I have a decal on my car that I got from Great Lakes Naval Station (I used to work on base) but the gate guard didn't pay any attention to it. Be sure to have your registration and proof of insurance with you though because if you are involved in an accident or are stopped by the MPs they will ask to see it.
We get it, advertisements are annoying!
