I know its not common but I have had this problem twice already . I think I will put a 25 Amp buss fuse on all three terminals and hopefully I wont need to spend another $400 next time around.
If you put a 25a fuse on a battery terminal, you will blow them every time you attempt to start the truck. There is much more than 24a running through those cables during normal operation.

My 400 amp alt on my M1167 is missing the voltage regulator. Is there a specific one I need ? does it have to be the dual voltage or will a used 28v work?
Get the specific one you need or replace with new Dual voltage 200 Amp alternator regulator with new mounting brackets.

You need to re-engineer the mounts to swap to GM alternator, and that takes time AND you will also need a 12V inverter to operate the transmission.

In general, being cheap about things and not getting the correct parts will ensure disaster

I believe the part number you need is N3118 which is NSN 6110-01-485-9081
Put a want in the classifieds as some have removed the monster 400A and replaced them with 200A
