There are so many talented and knowledgeable people here, I thought I would post my idea, and see if I am on the right track. I would like to install a 20k hydraulic winch between the rear frame rails of my m35a2. (Hoping that it is powerful enough to recover my truck unloaded, from mud.) There is an import winch on ebay for 1k . Weighs 120lbs. What is the consensus. Good idea? What would be the best way to run the pump? and what pump to use? I am pretty nervous about the ebay winch.

Dave

There are a couple of ways to run hydraulics. A front winch PTO, and accessory drive off that same PTO or a transfer case PTO. Your pump would need to be matched to winch flow requirements. 20,000 is more that enough power. You could do it with a 6000# winch if you have enough cable and snatch blocks.
