I found this in my M37 tranny what is it?

Appears to be a set screw of some type. I don't know where it would go for sure but I would suspect the shift forks where the rails go thru. Does the shifter feel tight in all the gears? You would have to pull the top cover to access. The other option might be some retainer of some type deep in the bowels of the transmission in which case you would have to tear it completely down. Nice to see someone else in CA collects old military vehicles too.

A set screw for the shift forks. Or to lock the the reverse shaft in place, Does it have an allen socket in the back? Good it didn't get picked up in the gears.
