idle problem

I have a truck that has an unsual idling issue. I seems the engine will idle for a while then acts like it wants to die. RPM drops to 200 then idle back up to 1100 the back to 200. Acts like it's running out of fuel. This oscilation will last for aprox. 1 min. then will return to normal idle of 900 RPM. My filters sets will be in next week. Does this sound like fuel filters or something else.

thanks

If you haven't done any PM on it, see what the filters do. Have you driven it? If its the filters, it shouldn't be able to reach 2500rpm. I hate to say it, but in other threads with this question, the "boys" seem to say its time for a hydraulic head.

Or the systen is loosing prime. One of the gaskets could have a split in it causing the fuel to bleed back after it sits a spell. Do the PM first.

after changing filters does it idle when you first start the truck cold? if not, turn the pump up 1 flat and retry. if not try again. if not now, clean and check for leaks. also make sure that your shut off is going in all the way.
