Just removed my IP now I need help

Just got my IP removed and am getting ready to ship it off to have it rebuilt. The process was not that bad but acutally taking the ip out once all the lines and bolts were removed was a pain in the ass. I do have a couple of questions.

1. People that have done this in the past do you remove the injection lines completely? I dont see how I am going to be able to re install the IP and line everything up without removing the lines?

2. Does anyone have a Napa part # for the gasket that seals the IP to the engine. Looks almost like a chevy thermostat gasket.

3. If I do need to remove the injector lines what size wrench fits the lines at the injectors. Dont think I had a large enough box wrench or do I need a crows foot.

Oh yeah crows feet kick ass and are a must have when removing the IP

You need buy an install kit look on google it or your Pump service co shuld have kits to.
and did you remove the water pump to get front gear.

I did not remove the lines on my first IP replacement, the second one yes because I also replaced the injectors. The crows feet are only really needed for the lower lines, the top just a standard 5/8" (?? pretty sure) works fine. If you remove the lines, be sure you mark them so you know where they go when you put them back in.

Injector lines at the injector is a 3/4" wrench, you do not need a special wrench. There is no need to remove the injectors unless you are replacing them. It makes it easier to just losen them over removing them to put the IP back in from my experiences.

If you do replace the injectors, you need a deep 30mm socket, but you should really buy the special 30mm injector socket (Ignore the 6.5L, same tool for 6.2L). This is because a standard socket can break the return tips and that is not good. It is well worth the money if you plan to keep a CUCV for a lone time, or work on friends trucks. I bought mine and it has paid for itself needing.

I have swapped out several pumps and I leave the lines attached to the pump when I remove it, unhooking them from the injectors only. Once out I set it on a clean flat surface and then remove the lines and pull the pump away from the cluster of lines. This leaves them in position to re-install on the new pump. The rebuilt pump should come with a new mounting gasket. You will need new intake gaskets though, make sure you get the HD version. This method requires no special tools or crowfoot wrenches. I also suggest you use a magnet through the center of the socket when installing the 3 bolts back on the gear, if they drop off the socket and into the front cover it's alot of work to retrieve them. I use the same method when removing them, on the final few threads I remove the socket extension and use a magnet through the center to make sure the bolt is captured. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I just removed the oil fill tube. Once you get the bolts loos put your finger through the hole and hold the bolt into the socket as you pull it out.

I came up with Gm-10137486. After googling # I did find it listed as an injector pump gasket, but did not find a pic to verify. Hope this helps.
