Keep the 002A or the 003A?

Help! A friend of mine wants to buy one of my sets and I'm not sure which one to let go. I live in Northern NH and lose power a couple of times a year. During the winter months I use an outdoor wood furnace. The spec plate on the furnace says max amp is 3.8 amps ( Taco circulator pump and blower motor ) .In the house I have three Taco circulators, fridge, 210' foot well with 230 volt pump. We have compact fluorescent bulbs etc etc.
I have the 002A with1027 hours and the 003A with 77 hours and ASK enclosure.
I just spent the last hour outside with the 003 which I haven't run in two years. I drain the fuel tank and put new fuel in, checked the oil and it fired right up. I ran two halogen work lights off the accessory outlets and the charge indicator was right in the green. It held right at 60 hertz but the voltage gauge wasn't showing anything. Am I missing something? Is the 003A overkill for my house? I know it burns twice as much fuel as the other set but that ASK is nice and quiet. What do you think? Thanks

I also have both, and would not part with either. The 002 handles most every thing in my house including 3 freezers and 220V well pump and can run laundry(gas dryer) and dishwasher, oil furnace, and not get past 75% load. The ASK and lower hours (if meter is correct) favor the 003 if you have to part with one. The 003 will not use twice as much if not fully loaded, but will use more. Even so, the 003 is pretty efficient compared to 3600RPM gas or gasoline units that don't make as much power.

Try a Kill 0 Watt meter in the conveinaince outlet (you may have to use extension cord due to cover) that way you can check volts and hertz against the meters. It should read around 120V, regardless of reconnection switch position.

The 003 does not use twice the fuel as the 5kw if they are not fully loaded. If they ARE, your getting twice the power. Keep the 003.

As long as you allow for the difference in fuel consumption in your disaster fuel storage sizing, you're fine. I'd keep the 003 + ASK as well, but do be careful of mice living in there and eating the wiring.

I made a breakout box for my 003a and I have never put much of a load on it so I gave it a try. I got up to 75% rated current and I had a lot of stuff running on it. I guarantee you my consumer 7500 watt gas gen would get up and run away if I tried this load on it.
