Hey guys I'm looking for information and a source for my law enforcement MRAP that we recently acquired. Power steering seems to just come and go at will, some low speeds it performs ok but others it goes completely away. The power steering fluid is all foam from air in the system when we add fluid and try to work the air out it just belches fluid out. Is this a common problem and would a pump fix the issue?

Welcome Joe. The air entrainment can happen due to very un obvious sources. Usually return hoses that you would think would leak but don’t. Other sources are slave piston seals. I don’t know which Caiman you have, there is the MTV chassis version and the Caiman 2 with independent suspension. I would not suspect the pump. The foaming is likely causing the erratic performance.

Part of the TM problem is we are not supposed to have them. Another problem is there are so many different versions. been studying up on this subject. The more I look and ask, the more different versions I see.

Someone at TACOM explained to me, there is a way that the P.D.'s can get help and parts that are still in the system. He told me that the Army had done away with most parts, but a few were in stock. The P.D.'s need to go back to TACOM and request help. He told me everyone was in a hurry to grab a piece of the pie, but did not read the fine print. I just sent a whatsapp off to a TACOM guy and asked who the P.D. should talk to. See if he is awake.

This is the message I got back.

Unfortunately there is no TACOM support for the divested variants. Law
enforcement users are encouraged to contact the below person at the LESO
office for parts and technical support.
