I was admiring my LMTV today and I noticed a couple of times previously, these little loop wires inside the holes under the tailgate on both sides of the truck. I hope I wasn't the only one who didn't know what they are for. I just realized what they are...

They are used to latch onto one of the tie-down hooks on both sides of the tailgate to hold it open/down while the truck is moving so the tailgate will not slide off its mounting hinges!!! You just slip them over the tie-down hooks on either side when the gate is down. I reached in through the side opening to attach them.

who knew?

LMTV fun for the day.
