Sorry I don't have the answer either, but your right about the prefix of 411.
I have a question about your tow rig. Are truck and trailer rated for 6.5 tons?
That's what my data plate as empty weight.

If you think the hood number no longer exists under all the paint on the hood, the Army repeated the number on the tailgate. So you might sand around on it to try and find it.

My truck has the number I can see under the paint of the hood on one side. The other side it is missing. I still can't figure that one out.

Mine is serial 376, hood (registration number) is 41120433. You could add the difference in s/n to my reg number for something close to correct. Nobody is keeping a database.

I have heard that the first 3 or 4 numbers are the contract number that the Government gave GMC for building a set number of trucks. So your truck was built under the 412 contract or 4121 and was possibly the 2486th truck built under that one. What year is your truck?

Anyone else remember if it is the first 3 or 4 on the GMC's?

Now I need to go look at my number. I can't remember it.

G749 hood markings

That's a sweet truck that deserves more pictures taken and proper hood numbers, thanks for sharing. I started some research on this because I have a CDN M211 with US markings that I'd like to keep as a US truck but the number needs to mean something.....or it means nothing.

I can't answer your question either but here's a pile of links that I started reading through to figure out the markings on my truck.

I found a link to David Doyles book and the article on the G749. It includes info on the start numbers for the M211 - 31388 and the M215 4679......starts on page 156.

There's a picture of an M135 coming out of the factory with number 41122563 which would be cool to recreate.

This is a question for the Canadians on (early deuce) What years did Canada Use the M135 and the M104 trailer and did they get any from the US or did they make them new for Canadian service. I just got a ex-Canadian army M104 made in Dec 1950.
