Will an NP205 fit in the M1009?
If so, what additional items need to be swapped out?

Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
3 output shafts is true, but the NP208 version and the round pattern NP205 share the same output shaft. The other two are the NP203 version and the figure 8 NP205 version. Avoid those if you don't want to change out or rebuild the transmission. There were 3 different output shaft lengths on the TH400. You'll have to change yours or the whole transmission to work with an NP205.
I would look for the round pattern NP205, shifter and adapter. Found in ~'85 and up Chevy K30 civi trucks. You will want to grab the driveshafts from the donor as well. The front shaft should work in your M1009, but the rear shaft will need to be cut down and then run an adapter u-joint for the rear axle. You will need the adapter whether it be the figure 8 or *round pattern* (EXTREMELY hard to find and quite expensive when you do!)
I don't remember which side the tcase drop is on for the HMMVW. I believe they used the same TH400 transmission though, so if they drop on the correct side it may be possible to use them.Okay so I'll ask this dumb question. The HMMVW has either the 218 or 242 are either of these compatible with the M1009?
I forgot about the full time 4x4 part... so you would need to put in drive slugs or leave your lockouts locked 100% of the time to use it. Nothing wrong with full time 4x4 if you want all wheel drive.Does the full/part time 4x4 question come into play?![]()
