Today I got to climb around on a M1070A1 and took some photos.

After we had walked away from where the trucks were, I mentioned to the lady who was showing me around that I would've liked to see one running and she said I could've started one if I asked earlier. :cry: I'll have to go back sometime and start one up and make a video.

One thing that surprised me about the M1000 is that its not really as big as I figured it'd be. I'm not saying its a small trailer by any means, but its not as large as I thought.

The steering wheel is smaller, the cab has A/C and its not an after thought. Your right about that hose, it's an egr componet. The 1070 has the same hose. The stack is moved back so it's easier to armor the cab. Part of the frag kits is a storage box above the spair tire. The storage box next to the driver/passenger seats are nice so your not chasing your seads, dip can, pack of smokes, drink, exc. All over the dog house or worse, on the floor. They got rid of the dog house storage cause we really never use it. It's and Allison trans. From what I understand it's a 6 speed with an automatic gear splitter. What I do know is with that motor and trans combo, it will cruise 55 with an M1 on its back. Where the old 1070 would have to be put in low transfer to climb a hill with an M1, this thing slows, but climbs that hill with out really trying. I was part of the decommissioning/commissioning ceremony (I was in 96th during this time) and we absolutely love them! If I could make any changes, it would be to have roller guides for the winches. That's it. It's really that good

I have the pictures. But for some reason I can't load them from my phone. Can some one please give me an email to send the pictures to and repost them for me? You guys will like to Teflon coated 5th wheel plate; no more greasing of the 5th wheel plate! Lol
