The back tires on the deuce are always going flat and I am sure it is due to the CTIS because it tells me "Flat?".I believe that the problem is the valve that acts as a diaphragm aboce the air tanks because I can always feel air leaking from it. Can anyone tell me if there should be a gasket between the cover and the base or give a picture that would be great.

How about sending us a picture of what you're seeing.

You might be a lucky one. If you can feel air, you got a leak that is undeniable.

Once I see your picture, I might be able to help, with more pictures returned, or tech assistance via tech manuals illustrated parts breakdown. Without pictures, I'm lost. Sorry.

Thanks Deuce. I appreciate the picture. I'll see if I can find that thing under my A3 in the morning, then look it up in the manuals if you don't have an answer by then.

In the meantime, it does look like there is a sealant at the threads where it hooks together. Notice the red? If that is where the leak is coming from, all you need is a little plumbers tape on there. Of course, you did say the cover, but well, just guessing out loud here...

OK, it looks to be your safety relief valive. I would drain the air tanks with engine off, then see if you can get to it and work some fine oil in there. It is probably got some grit in there holding it open. Need to find a maintenance TM and see if it is mentioned as a maintenance item.

Your reference diagram, if I got this correct, is item 28, figure 113, Tech manual 9-2320-386-24p

It should not be leaking down there. Another thing I would want to do it, crank up the engine, let the air come up to full pressure, pump the brakes a few times, let it come back up to pressure again, shut down the engine with emergency brake on, climb underneath and see if it is still leaking with all systems shut down. If so, it needs be cleaned or replaced.

It is sold as a single unit. I cannot find any kind of reference to it being a maintenance item, but there might be something out there I have not located yet. For now, download the above mentioned tech manual from Jatonka.com and look at the above referenced drawing, and you will see what I am seeing. Good luck.

I cannot imagine it not having at least a sealant on there with 120psi going into it. I cannot get my head in there to get a good look, so I went into macro mode with my camera and took more close ups of mine. It looks like there could be some sealant, but then, it might just be dirt and grime built up.

The IPB shows it as being one part. I would imagine, if no one who has pulled this thing apart and chimes in, you are going to have to pull it off and look at it. It definitely seems like it is going to have to come off anyway, if nothing else, for cleaning and further inspection. Here's some pics, not that it helps. Maybe you might see something that I didn't.

Mine is very difficult to get to. I would recommend removing it, taking it apart and cleaning everything thoroughly. If it does have a gasket, which it most likely does, you can make a new gasket. If it can't be repaired, replace it with a new pressure relief valve.

I have taken it apart and cleaned and even replaced one of the washers but it would only seem right if there was some kind of sealant between the cover and the actual base.

P.S. I really appreciate you guys getting under their and looking, I know its a pain.
