I have to say I really never thought much of a M35a3. I must say that after getting one and driving it, the truck is really a Cadillac among Deuces.
I have owned every common 2.5ton truck the military has fielded. The M35A3 really stands out. The cat motor has lots of power. Although it may be slower than a M35A2 it gets going alot faster. The power curve is very smooth. 3 point seat belts are nice too
I'm not sure what parts were reused in the rebuilds but most evething seems new or new when it was rebuilt in the 90s
The hood is very goofy. It looks like something you would do if you ran out of money rebuilding your car and needed something or anything to cover the engine compartment.
Now it may fall apart tomorrow but today it is very nice.
Try one you may just like it.
