M35A3 TECH Questions and Comments

Well im new to this sight and MV ownership . But not to military vehicals especialy old ones. there was a time i was a 63B2P than went into communications 05B2S back in the old days. Ive purchesed a 1996 M35A3 and well would like to keep this site for that reason. becouse its a one of a kind short lived in military use vehicale so we can lern from each other.

Gotta get to work on mine. I'm assuming, if the tire holds air when you pump up manually, it is not the grommet, and probably the O ring.

Will anyone verify?

Well I must have goten the only completly operations m35a3 in the invantory. I drove it from MD To WA 1600 miles at 50 mph and had zero problems. Did seem to have a few dried out gaskets in window sprinkels when rains. That problem is addressed in a nother form and I am trying to get them all over to this one .

Did you have any wobble at all from the rear end at that speed. What tire pressure did you have at that speed, and will you look to see if you have any extra lug nuts on your rear tires, and if they are all facing the same direction. I'm going through this now. I have one tire mounted the wrong direction, and have added three lug nuts per tire to balance out the CTIS (I hope), which might take some of the wobble out, according to some of what I have read here. Would like another look at those lugs and tires if you have time.

Try these guys,
They have tons and tons of military tires, used, but most are in like new condition.

If they don't have the size you need, they can call two other storage areas and see if the other storage areas have them.

We have gotten a lot tires from them with no problems for our deuces, and a few of our guys have gotten Humvee tires from them for their 4x4 trucks for very cheap.


Last time I was there they had 12.5 x 20 and 14/14.5 x 20, some on rims already

Holy crap that's a drive! Congrats Kevin. Leaking wheels- what I have seen so far is look near where the rim nuts are, and you can see between those and the lug nut holes a split where the two hub join. Hit that with soapy water. if your 20 inch seal is out, you're going to see leaks. Then hit all of your ctis from hollow stud to valve entry on the tire. If no bubbles there, start checking your ctis from stud to center of axle. If you have two tires low on the same axle, it might be at the t above the pumpkin. Let me know if you need more than that!

My A3 is great, it's only defect is two leaking wheel o-rings, CTIS works great. Regardless of other comments, my ctis WILL inflate the two leaking tires when they have 0psi. One has 0psi in a few hours and the other in approx. 48 hours. Cant the CTIS be reprogrammed to inflate the tires to 55psi?

Jerry, I know this is a dumb question I can work out myself, so let me apologize in advance. Even so, what soap do you use, and how much soap in the spray bottle do you use with what percentage of water for the best soap bubble effect on a leaky tire. Never done it before, but I have heard of it.

I know it wasnt directed at me, but I use dawn dishsoap at approx 1:10 ratio. There used to be a special soap we used at the dealership, but I cant remember the name. It did not work appreciably better than dawn.

I use whatever dishsoap is hanging out where I can get to it. I use a 24 oz spray bottle from home depot and just cover the bottom with soap. The general rule of thumb is any soap will bubble, the more soap, the bigger the bubbles. And never think twice about asking me anything. I'm not the smartest guy here, but I will give you an answer! It might even be the right one, or one of the right ones!

AMX, last I heard from cm automotive, they will happily work with you on fixing your ctis system. Their president had sent me an email about a request I had to them about troubleshooting the one bad valve I have. They said send it in, they will rebuild it, all I had to do was pay for shipping. Nice guys.

Thanks, but my CTIS works great. I simply have two leaking wheels.
