So I traded a 1953 F100 dump truck for a 1963 M43B1 ambulance last week. after tearing the front of the M43 down I discoved the engine is locked up. (no surprise it sat in a field for 4+ years) So now to my question....What is the engine weight of an M43B1 (M37 ambulance) engine? Since I do believe I will be pulling it and starting to rebuild it next weekend.

I don't know, right off, what the weight of the engine, alone is. The TM recommends that the engine, bell & transmission be pulled as a unit. Its not feasible, to do anything major to the engine, while it in the truck.

The engine alone is around 600lbs pulling the whole powerpac is around 800lbs. Taking the whole powerpac out is easier then just trying to pull the engine.
