M51 air cleaner setup to m35 ?

Hi . Has anyone swapped over the air intake system from the old
M51 trucks to the later m35 setup mounted to firewall under hood ? Is there any reason not to ?

The 1969 setup has a weird big in one end and smaller on one end hose setup $96 snd bunch of other rubber boots $80 worth . And my big metal air filter housing has rotted latches $40 each . I have a parts truck m35 with fairly new rubber boots on its whole intake system .
