I'm leaving for Camp Lejeune in the morning out of Cabarrus County NC.
I need the fuel turned up some on my truck. I have never done this before, just read about it. I will be going down HWY 24. Is there anyone on the way down that can show me how it is done? Being the 1st time I do not want to try myself and mess the engine up.

Thanks,
Gus

I Turned mine up five flats and it made all the difference in the world!
It diddn't want to start & had low power.

It Was 10 degrees yesterday morning and it fires right up now!!!:-D
Go slow & don't turn it up to much too fast. Go a little at a time and test it. If you go to far you will burn things up,(Turbo Overheat), Turn up a flat and rev engine and watch for smoke. When you just start to get a puff of smoke on rev up dont go any more till you check the temp, if its turboed and smokes black under load you may be too far!!or you will cause problems.
Its The double nutted shaft under a cover that must be removed and the shaft is the bottom one that is pointing forward with double nuts on it.
Unlock first nut and Turn inside nut clockwise to increase fuel one flat at a time. This will pull the shaft out from housing. a little makes a big difference so go slow. Shouldn't go over one full turn without Pyro.

Good luck

look on the front of the fuel dencity compensator and there *should* be a little tin cover triangle shaped with some safety wire on the bolts. defeat the wire and take off the cover. wala a threaded rod with two nuts. This is my understanding that the metering rod has a sort of hook arrangement on the end inside the housing. It was stressed to me to not allow the rod to turn as the "hook" will break off inside then you are screwed. So you need to hold the rod while you break loose the outer or lock nut.en I mark a flat of the inner or adjusting nut to keep track of how many sixths of a turn I make. Then make your adjustment as you hold the threaded rod with one hand. Tighten the locking nut again making sure only the nuts turn not the rod).
Get two wrenches and losten the outer one while holding the inner. next tighten the nut to make more power.
Use 1/8 turn increments. Before you turn the screw, with the engine idleing open and close the throttle rapidly while watching the exaust smoke. Then after each adjustment rapidly open and close the throttle untill the exaust smoke starts to blacken. Then lock down the lock nut and test drive. What you are looking for is black smoke under acceleration but not while crusing.
I almost forgot you'll be turning the screw clockwise to increase the fuel rate.

It's a 5 ton LDS, the pump is different than a Deuce. . .

I think. . .

The adjustment you describe will not work on a 5 ton with a G code pump.
