hi everyone! this is my first post on this site.first id just like to say that steel soldiers is a great site and has been really helpful to me with my project.ive owned my 77 m884 for nearly 8 years and didnt really know a whole lot about it until i found this site.my first question is about a bed swap.the bed on my truck now is the original. its pretty solid and its functional its just not very pretty.looks like someone drug the passenger side down along a tree or something.so ive thought about replacing it.i know where a deuce bed left over from someones bobb project is that i may be able to buy for a reasonable price.has anyone done this? is it possible?anybody have pics?

Kinda heavy in its stock form Imagine you could pare off some weight but even if you cut the weight in half, still a 1000# bed. The best thing to find (with the exception of a factory bed) would be the bed off of an M101 trailer.

My m884 has the overload springs and was made to hold of the weight of the factory bed with a communications shelter mounted in it.I didnt think that the weight of the deuce bed was that big of a deal ( i didnt know that they weighed that much either) i thought that the length and width would be a bigger issue. Is the m101 bed the one that they use on a bobbed deuce?Ive thought about using another factory bed but thought if im going to replace why not upgrade.I also might be able to buy this deuce bed for less than the cost of a factory replacement.

I would think you'ld need to cut it down to 8 foot long. It would still weigh 12 to 1400 lbs.
A M101 bed would work, although they are somewhat smaller than a stock bed.
an M105 bed would need to be cut down to fit too.

Ok im trying to attach a picture of this truck but dont know if its working. What did the guy from the post entitled "THE M880" use as a bed on his truck?Looks like some kind of trailer bed but i dont know exactly what it is.It looks cool but smaller than a stock bed.If i do replace my factory bed i want more room not less as i use it to haul wood and such.

That's Soni's old War Wagon. He is a member here. The bed was fabricated. If I recall correctly it was built off a Ramcharger frame with a truck cab.
