I seem to remember someone telling me that the transmission or transfer case breather vent is piped up to the intake stack, in order to keep it above water when fording. If you had a positive pressure buildup it would push the fluid up the tube and into your intake.

Hopefully someone else will chime in and verify if that is correct..

Thats what im thinking ...checked the ctis valve in cab to be sure and its clean no oil in it.. there's 3 hoses on the air intake one looks to be 3/8...and 2 that look like 1/2 or 3/4 they going to distribution blocks and go to the front and back of a truck

Your transfer case could be over filled or one of the 2 air solenoids on the transfer case could leak when activated, causing the case to be slightly pressurized.

Oil level in the case should be 1/2" below the fill hole. I'd check that first. Mine had this problem when I first got it and correcting the oil level fixed it.

I have seen this a number of times and it has turned out to be the solenoid on top of the transfer case. The one that locks the transfer case shifter in place. It is bowing out the vent line that runs to the intake pipe.

You do not have to get a new one.
Take air line off and cap it.
Cap valve.
In other words bybass it.
I bypass all mine knowing not to pull transfer case shift lever up until I am in neutral.

I never use low range anyway. Never had to
