First things first I owe you folks a picture of my M923A2 but I think I will need a degree on how to post pictures here my first attempt was a disaster. Ok now I hope you understand how green I am at my renewed passion for military vehicles, but here it goes. What is the difference between my 923A2 and a 939. I appologize in advance if this a dumb question eh

The m939 is the series that includes the m932, M932A1, M932A2, As well as other models. It in a nutshell is the newer than the 809 series style 5 tons if that makes sense.

There is NO ONE out there more stupid than me with the new school web stuff but I can upload photos really easy. The more you use this site the more confidence you will get. It kind of teaches you as you go along. Plus many good members willing to help you.
Just uses the search box and everything you need to know will come up or don't hesitate to ask. Gosh knows I asked a TON of questions when I started and everyone helped and in the process I made some very good friends.

Thank you very much, it's appreciated I'm seeing an obvious trend her. It makes this enjoyable when you are able to ask as well as make a mistake and no one is jumping on your head. I did manage to post my trucks picture in the Avatar on my name. (Baby steps) lol. The reason for the question regarding the difference in trucks as I want to by some newer components for the air system and lights and heck all kinds of stuff off the vendor site I saw mentioned starting with the gas cap and rather than run outside to measure it would be just easier to figure out the similarities if that makes sense. Thanks again

The easiest way to find the differences is to download the tech manuals, look in the parts manuals, find the UOC (Used on Code) at the beinging of the manual and then see what the different part numbers are. If there is no UOC then the parts are the same.

I do this all the time with the CUCV parts. The majority of the parts are the same but sometimes there is a difference between models.

Looking for your M923A2 it shows a UOC of "ZAA". When looking for specific parts see if any of the individual items has a Code. If not then the part will fit all the variants of the truck.

The Fuel cap is listed in Figure 82 on page 82-1, item #2. Fuel cap is part number 12356774. No UOC is listed so the cap will fit all the M939 series trucks.

Now looking at the tank iteself, item #1, you will see 4 different part numbers. ZAA is listed under the first number. The tank is shared along with the other associated UOC codes.

Good to know, I researched it and someone said that you can use the top plug for a smaller drain pan and then continue to use the lower plug so you don't over fill the drain pan. I just used 5-gallon buckets and use the lower plug.
