No engine should require more than 30 seconds to start, use ether or a heater instead of trying to kill the starter. A lower CCA battery of equivalent size has less plates, but they are thicker, and so will last longer through heat and vibration. A higher CCA has thinner plates to fit more of them in the same space, but will have a shorter life. Typical battery life is 5 years or less due to chemistry. 4 Hawkers may be able to start a truck for 10 years, but they will likely not meet their rated CCA after the 4-5 year mark.
