X-Doors, even in the "supplemental armor" version with a flat plate on them, were not intended to stop bullets. They were only intended to help against artillery fragments.

The specs for "basic armor" demanded that the vehicle be resistant to projectiles of 17 grains weight, and for "supplemental armor" of 44 grains. For testing, a Fragment Simulated Projectile (FSP)“ is shot with 250 feet per second at the armor.

Both the weight of the projectile and the speed is quite below that of any decent gun.

There are numerous reports of people having shot at their doors, and yes, I heard of X-doors ocasionally stopping a bullet. But just going by specifications, those doors were not intended to protect against bullets.
