Well, went in with a friend and bid on about 10 trucks (knowing we'd only get a couple) and won two deuces in the lots available in PA in auction 2912. We screened stuff in Mechanicsburg and Chambersburg PA, but at the Mech. site our government escort would not allow us to start the trucks, so we were hesitant to bid on them, regardless of how nice they looked. Plus, they were further from home anyways.

My friend is not a Steel Soldier, nor a vet, but he is pretty enthused about getting a truck that is as useful as these are for his farm. We ended up with two good ones.

Truck A is lot 3642, which was a strong runner, turbo (we had it running onsite, and it whistled very nicely!) with a winch (new cable). No rust, came with a hard top, cargo bed cover, west coast mirrors, air ride drivers seat, wiper washer installed, and great tires. We got it for $2483.

Truck B is lot 3621, non runner, but I believe it was only because of a dead battery, it couldn't even buzz the low air buzzer. Non-winch, no bed cover or bows, had a vinyl cab cover, but it had great paint, no rust anywhere, good tires, and had the old school metal turn signals/brake lights and elephant ear mirrors. We got it for $1505.

I'm excited! Now gotta figure how to get them home! [thumbzup]

Congrats Mike. They look like nice trucks, but which is going to be yours? I am surprised that the guys at Chambersburg did not take off rear cargo cover and sell it in another lot like they like to do. If you need to borrow my towbar you can. I might be up in NoVa for the 4th. I won't need it probably for a month or so as I am after some stuff in the next batch.

Its nice to see someone getting such a nice truck for so little. It will provide infinite fun and practical use. The ambulance will be very jealous :p Enjoy! Are you getting truck A?

Congrats Mike! Guess your ambulance will take a back seat now. :)
Hell NO! My daughter is at her mom's for the next 10 days, so I'm gonna get a lot of work done on Gumby while I can! I am planning, hell or high water, to have it presentable at the Carlisle truck show in PA first weekend in August. Once I knock out the few mechanical issues remaining this weekend, all I got left to do is reassembly, sand, prime and paint!

Moving right along!

Hey Mike, Those are GREAT looking trucks, good choice and CONGRATS! These next few months are going to be great for inexpensive Dueces and 5 Tons.

I actually like the mirrors on the second truck. Very cool and original. There are some beautiful well cared for trucks coming out of Guard Units all over the country now.

Great news Mike it will fit right in next to the A frame. They make great places to store things too while you are not working on them and the weight is never an issue for mine. I am sitting here in Korea for a year or more so God bless you all and keep in touch with PM I will not be on as much as before but will always be keeping you all in my prayers.
