Made this up based on the responses in this and other threads. I'll come back and update periodically, so if you have updates, please reply to this thread with the status of your state.

Maybe one of the Mods can make this a sticky?

So far as I know there are no awful MV-related laws in VA. I think some things wind up getting antique tags - my m998 did. But the DMV was helpful and efficient, again, in my experience. And I know folks around the state with all manner of MVs tagged, insured and on the roads in VA.

I'm residing in California now and am having to re-learn how things work. I've heard M998s can be on the road here if converted to "RVs". Buttt... guess I'm gonna find out. If anybody has any actual information about what's onroad-possible in California, as opposed to FUD, please, feel free to message me. Because I'd really like to know.

Nebraska is green-- thanks to a legislative bill pushed through by Senator Tom Brewer, any vehicle which one can show has a military connection qualifies for a former military vehicle tag-- this goes for foreign vehicles as well. Otherwise one can easily get regular tags for pretty much anything as well (the former mv tag is great for oddball vehicles that most states would not consider to be a roadable vehicle-- it is also great for very large stuff as it exempts some of the weight restrictions).

Iowa is friendly.

Most counties won't transfer from an SF97, but a bonded title is easy if you don't have a state title.

If you are in one of these affected states and want to change the law Swiss already did the hard work. All documented here on SS on how the Georgia laws were changed and instructions on how you can apply it to your state. It goes over almost any gripe the government can have with military vehicles being owned by civilians. Just find a willing government representative to represent your bill and start the process.

in WA it's possible to register military vehicles, but it depends on what licensing office you go through.
the state sent out a letter 6 years ago telling offices to not license anything with a military looking model unless the owner could prove it had an FMVSS decal on it, but as I said, it depends on the office you go to, as some know what they are doing and others will default to CYA mode and feed you lines of BS about it.

Missouri is good to go and friendly.
Must have a transferable title.

Won’t take a SF97 from GP since they basically have their name on it(Been awhile since I have seen a SF97 since I get title from them)

Sometimes you get a letter from the DMV saying it needs to go to highway patrol for vin inspection which they just fill a form and say title needs to say “non USA std motor vehicle” which just means it doesn’t have a 17 digit vin.

And sometimes you get a clear MO title back from DMV without having a highway patrol inspection.

Georgia Procedure

Always get Title from Gov Planet when purchasing. SF97 gets way to messy

Documents to bring to DMV
1.) Title
2.) Richie Bros Invoice
3.) T22 B - Police come out and check VIN against stolen DB
4.) Print out from web that Gov Planet is a subsidary of Richie Bros or DMV does not see the clear ownership between Title and Invoice
5.) Check or Credit Card

Once you pay the Georgia valorem tax AVAT then send in to Gov Planet proof of your tax payment and ask that the sales tax be credited back to you. They cut you a check.

This whole game of which office you go to does not really work in Georgia.

Does anyone know about the feasibility of getting a HMMWV tagged in Connecticut? A friend of a friend is looking at a newer (2007 or 2008) truck. Thanks.
