the short of it im a little tight on cash at the moment, moving ect. just got my paid in full from Mechanicsburg. i need to set up an appointment and get this thing off the lot. it might jump but we all know how that goes. ill be contacting tom to find out if they can try. im going down with new batteries in hopes i can drive her some 4 hours back to ny. allegany park area, Randolph to be specific.

my options are:

do an inspection on the fluids and breaks and drive her off the lot and maybe home, stop at a parking lot for a more detailed inspection.

if it doesnt start, have it flat towed (one of your help need) to somewhere local where i can either store it for a month or work on it and get it running.

have it trailered and again locally stored or transported back to ny.

in any even this is my first recovery and i would like assistance from an experianced member. i have been reading alot on the truck and opperator manuals but thats never a susbsititute for experiance..

please help and suggestions welcome, Dan

Hi Dan, when you get your EUC back, then bump this thread back to the top. You will get more responses, when it turns out that you are going to need help within a few days, not several weeks out. Not that people ignore your thread, its just that people forget, and frankly if they are like me, they are not sure what they are doing next week, let alone, several weeks from now.

I am very proud of SS, and what the group does here in the way of helping each other. I am completely confident that you will be set to go when the time comes.

The deuce guys will tell you to take this time while you are waiting to study the heck out the manuals. There are tons of posts on how to do recoveries.

Congratulations on your win !

Yes, sorry if I wasn't clear. My euc is all set, paid invoice in hand. I just need to set up my load out appointment. I didn't wanna set a date until I have a plan. This couldn't have come at a worse time for me. Two weeks ago or a month from now would have been fine.

I am calling in the morning to set a date and time, just need input from you guys. I've got about a two week window to get this done. Realisticly I've got till then end of next week.

No, you were clear, my reading classes were not fully in gear before I engaged my keyboard, resulting in wasted letter units. I guess the good news is, if we keep posting to this, it keeps getting bumped to where more people might see it!

First off, congratulations on the addition to your family.
Now, before you try and recover it make sure that you have valid insurance and tags.
Alot of members here do not advise driving it home untill you have inspected the vehicle throughly. Checking the entire brake system, as well as all safety and mechainical systems. That said, if you check everything out and know that everything is good to go then drive it and smile the whole trip home.

I will say from exp, I have had a total brake failure while driving a duece in rush hour traffic. I hope that NEVER happens to anyone. My failure came in the when the master cylinder cracked at the threads. The only way I had to stop was the parking brake, and down shifting. It only took several hundred yards to drift to a stop most of the time. I can say that I was very lucky that no one was hurt.

Scary story over, some of the happiest times I have had are driving my trucks off the DROM lot (with insurance) and if you cover your bases, hopefully we can read about another good recovery.

If it has batteries in it, you may be able to get the yard worker to jump start you and just keep the truck running untill you can get two new batteries, or bring them with you.
I would also bring some new fuel filters, since they have a tendancey to clog on you.
Also bring a glad hand air hose, you may need to borrow one from someone or, build your own. Those are a life saver.
ok enough said.
I wish you the best of luck and have a safe recovery.

update, Karl was able to get a look at the truck for me when he was on the lot, thanx again, NO BRAKES!! so options are flat tow or flatbed. local storage is an option. i just need it off the lot and can figure it out from there. ill rent space donw there if needed.

opinions and suggrestions welcome.

Dan

Edit: ideally id like someone with a tow bar to pull it out and about 90 miles west.
