mep-018? with 4a084 engine runs but no AC power.

Got the engine running good (only runs in emergency but it is just a bad Oil Pressure sending unit), but has no AC power either at lugs (yes i had breaker switched on) or at volt meter i did try switching the large phase selector to see if maybe it was corroded connection there but still nothing. Where is the best place to start? Seems to me like it is just not exciting the field how does this unit excite the fields and where do i start to check if it is trying to excite or not. I also did hold the field flash switch while it was running and did seem to pull engine down a bit but still had no AC power. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! thanks

Open up the control panel. See if a bear has made a nest on top of the VR. If not, take a picture of the VR so I can see if its and OOOOOOld one or a new one.

Have you downloaded the TM's for this beast.

I have not got the TMs yet mostly because i couldnt figure out where or how to do that. I did see another post somewhere with similar issue and they had mentioned the rotating rectifiers being that the manual field flash is working but still no Ac output, well i say none but is did see .25 volt AC at back side of volt meter while holding the manual field flash and only .04 without holding it.
