Hat tip to all contributors, moderators, and administrators that have made this such a valuable site.
After searching high and low I could not find or missed the following.
For Technology Research Corporation (TRC) AC voltage regulator (after other suggestions / attempts gave no joy):
. Problem: Low Voltage (everywhere)
. Cause: assumed age-related component drift (as voltage crept lower over 2 years so as to generate low voltage errors on connected loads)
. Solution: Voltage Range Adjust potentiometer (fortunately exposed in lower-right area of case) required CW rotation ~20 degrees
Note: lock compound must be removed; if unable to clear pot cross-tip slot, consider knife / awl point to spin pot knob.
Working through the manual troubleshooting procedures:
Subject unit: Section 4-1.2 Testing (AC Voltage Regulator, P/N 01-21501-2, for MEP-804A/MEP-804B) *surely* this line (TM-9-6115-643-24 pdf page 439-440; (typical in other places too)):
. m. If steps h, j, and l are as indicated above, AC voltage regulator is defective and must be replaced.
should read:
. m. If steps h, j, and l are NOT as indicated above, AC voltage regulator is defective and must be replaced.
