MEP003A Governor Control Cable

New-to-me 003a throttle control cable button on vernier cable lock head is stuck in and won’t lock in position. The twisting of the knob also does not result in fine adjustment.

question is - is this a common issue/ is this something that can be repaired or do I need a new cable?

Haven’t messed with it at all because I wanted to check here first before causing more damage. Unit has 163 hours on the meter. Previous own only ran it for a few hours only using the convenience outlets.

If it were mine, I would remove it from the set, and see if I can unstick the button/cable. See if there is any damage.

Agree with Guy, take it off and see if you can get some lubricant into the end near the knob.
Since that area is always exposed to the weather, it's not uncommon for them to sometimes get frozen up.

Thanks everyone. I took it part, cleaned it up, lubed it, and it’s working as designed.
