The Fathers Day Weekend June 15th and 16th will be the newly renamed Military Appreciation weekend at West Bay on Kelleys Island. All military vehicles and their drivers will be allowed free travel on the Kelleys Island Ferry Boat Company's boats. Any passengers have to pay only the normal foot passenger rate. There will be military watercraft and amphibious vehicles on display as well as opportunities for them to launch and recover from the shoreline at West Bay. There will be some cannon firing on occasion. (they sometimes fire regularly a replica naval gun, some field pieces possibly and there's supposed to be a WWII 37mm anti-tank gun there as well.
There is primitive camping onsite near the West Bay Inn. Usually an interesting time, not the largest of shows, but many vehicle types it can be their first time on the Island (like the LARC-V and anti-tank gun)
