This is my Military meets Civilian vehicle.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile">My 91GMC with 2 1/2ton Rockwells from a duece. I use this truck in the mud here in PA. It is works really well and I don't worry about breaking axles, anymore.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_headbanger.gif" alt="Headbanger"> This is my NEW vehicle a 72M35A2. It came with 9.00x20s w/duals, I changed it over to singles with 11.00x20 Firestone NDs. 6 tires are cheaper than 10<img src="emoticons/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile">I also use this truck in the mud here in PA. I just got it but I'm already happy with it.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif" alt="Big Smile"> The bottom pic is from when I first bought it with 9.00x20s.

sweet! Can't wait to single mine, offroad it will be a godsend. you know, those ARE some strange wheels. Never seen any like those, they're not the standard single wheels, but they aren't the duals either. Custom maybe? The body of the wheel has a wierd contour in it that looks like that's where the decreased offset comes from. Intriguing.......

Wow, please explain where the heck you got those kickin tires on that 2.5... I like the way they look but I'm also curious, are they radials? Can you mount them as Dualies in the back? Where can I get some of those?

I take that back- after looking at my wheels they do have the same dish. I guess its the fact that the tires have a straighter profile that they look more like the single wheels. Looks good nonetheless, maybe I can live with the dual wheels singled out, cause yours looks good to me. I was convinced I'd need the single wheels

Thanks, I'm happy with the setup so far. The front wheels in the bottom duece pic are 6.5"wide 9.00x20. All of the other wheels pictured are 7.5"wide 11.00x20. They have Firestone stamped into the rings and wheels. I bought the 11.00x20 Firestone NDs, NEW, from a local tire center. They're about $250-$300@ bias, 14ply, 6610lb load limit at 100psi-single wheel, 5840lb load limit at 90psi-dual. The Firestone part#208280 and they are about 44" tall. My buddy saw a set of these on a utility truck and told me I should put them on mine because they had a really aggressive tread. Thats what I wanted and I had a local tire center get me 4 for the 91GMC. I just ordered 2 more for the duece and I put them on in single wheel, as you can see.

very cool- that also explains a little bit of how good they look in there- they're a titch taller and wider than the 11.00 x20 NDTs. Look great though, thanks to those pics I'm reconsidering ordering a bunch of 11.00x20 NDTs!

I did have 11.00x20NDTs on my 91GMC when I first put the rears underneath and I actually used them in the mud before I bought the Firestone tires. Here are a few pics. These tires worked better than I thought they would but the Firestones are much better.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_headbanger.gif" alt="Headbanger">

that looks pretty good! I've often wondered what my truck would look like on NDT's, but I'll probably go with the four spare 9x20's I'll have when I swap the deuce to singles <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">

hey BRGMCHEVY, would you be interested in a set of 16.00-20 michelin military tires for your rig? a friend of mine is selling a set of 4 with the correct rims from a 5 ton, that have been recentered with the lug holes from a deuce six lug rim. the tire measure 53" tall and would look sweet on your truck. he also has a set of rears for sale also. the front is the single clamp tie rod model with the u joint axle shafts. he wants $1400 for the whole deal but might seperate the rears from the tires and rims.

MonsterMan, I now have 9.00x20s on the 91GMC and I must say the small block Chevy revs pretty high to maintain 60mph, without overdrive. RPM is about 3400 at 60mph. Driving on the Interstate for more than an hour, at this RPM, is a concern for me. I am contemplating larger tires.

Big Mike, I have thought about those 16.00x20s, but I am trying to keep my truck on the road in PA.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_dead.gif" alt="Dead"> It is a limiting factor when it comes to bumper height, tires beyond the wheel wells and State inspection. I would need a 12" suspension lift to clear those tires! I now have an 8" that clears the 11.00x20s. I am thinking about the 14.00x20 Mich.s. I will think about those 16.00x20s though. thanks

sweet rigs. I noticed that your front axle has some funky type of drive flange. My friends black 85 GMC with rockwells has the same drive flanges. They appear to be two pieces and have a hole for a shackle or something. Are these stock or what? Is it like the brackets M-175's for lifting by helicopter?

we got that stupid lift law stuff here in jersey too. you guys have it alot better than we do though. the way i see it its only illegal if you get caught<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">
i have a set of michelin 14.00x20s on rims recentered to fit deuce rears for my toyota. if you wanna buy those from me i'll sell them to ya so i can buy the 16.00x20s from my buddy.

I have a brand new set of these hubs with $175.00 written on them. They came with my duece's extra parts, I wouldn't pay that much for them! I don't know the story about this type of hub but another member here states he has 5-dueces with this style hub? My duece has a standard style hub. I believe they may be for transport or tie-down.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug">

I'll get some pics and p.m. you when i get them. it may take a while, i lent the tires and rims to a friend of mine to use while im doin some major repairs to my rig. im located in south jersey, in the middle of burlington county. i can hear 3 shot bursts and the lovely sound of mortars hitting the ground from the ranges on Ft. Dix.

man, everytime I read story about lift laws, PA pops up as one of the owrst states, you do have it tough. Here in NV there are no inspections, and trucks over a certain GVW don't have to comply with any of the lift laws. It's a beautiful thing :)

A new "stupid" <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug">PA law is for certain counties to have, as part of the Annual Safety Inspection, a test of the gas cap! In part the entire state has in force an "Emission tampering inspection" inclusive with the State Inspection. If any emission component originally issued on your specific vehicle such as an air pump, EGR or catalytic converter is missing then your vehicle will fail the Safety Inspection. That means you would not be allowed to operate that vehicle on any PA roadway until you replace the missing emission component. I understand a gas caps function in emission system but is it really necessary to be forced to pay for a test that is more costly than a gas cap?! If you buy a NEW cap you are still required to pay for a test, no way around it! I just can't believe the audacity of the PA lawmakers in enforcing such a law. Low miles usage vehicles are not required to comply with Emissions testing(separate inspection from Safety Inspection), in those counties that are testing emissions, but they must comply with the gas cap test and "Emission tampering" inspection! Basically, your vehicle that you put less than 2000 miles a year on, must have all emission equipment visible for the Safety Inspection but you are not required to have the Emissions tested!! Makes me ANGRY!!!<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_angry.gif" alt="Angry"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_pissed.gif" alt="Pissed">
