In addition to the free meals given to Veterans at ALL Golden Coral resturants (nationwide) on Monday, November 12 (our local club will be displaying vehicles at the Cary, NC resturant where we have our monthly meetings), we have three parades that we are actively participating in this year. Any one who is in the NC area who would like to join us is more than welcome (with or without a vehicle...)
In Raleigh, NC:
The Wake County Council of Veterans Organizations would like to announce that the 2007 North Carolina Veterans Day Parade and Ceremonies will be held in Raleigh, November 10th.
The Parade will start at 9:00 AM and proceed down Fayetteville Street from Davie and end at the State Capitol Grounds. Commemorative Ceremonies will begin at 11:00 on the Capitol Grounds.
The 2007 Grand Marshals of the North Carolina Veterans Day Parade are the "Blue Star Mothers of North Carolina". There will be approximately 100 different organizations participating in the parade: Veterans groups, bands, ROTC units, veterans support groups, scouts, military vehicles and other organizations.
The special guest speaker at the ceremonies will be Army Reserve Major Grier Martin a veteran of Afghanistan. A wreath laying will be conducted by two recipients of the "Presidents Volunteer Award". Patriotic music and a scheduled flyover by military aircraft along with various displays will be on the capitol grounds.
