Hi I have had a early 6.2l diesel Red Block engine that came out of an RV that I'm going to put in a suburban that's low mileage supposedly it only has 1700 miles on it I don't think it's that low but I know it's probably not far off from that number. But the reason I'm making this thread is because I want to repaint it before I put it in but I want to paint it the original red color and from what I've read that it was Allison Red. The problem I'm running into is that color doesn't seem to exist anymore I've looked up this engine color and can not find it. Unless it's not the color they painted it? I was wondering if anyone knew where to find this color or at least a color that is similar or the same and it's under a different name? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you looking for ceramic rattle can engine paint? or planning to spray it with a gun?
You can try getting a close match with engine paint from your local parts store. There are several different red colors out there made by Dupli Color.
You could also try Cummins Apex Red engine paint available on line.
You can also take a piece to a local automotive paint supply shop and have it scanned and get it mixed in single stage urethane.
That will hold up to heat without a problem and the hardener makes it 100X more fuel and solvent resistant than rattle can paint.
