New hidden links popping up. I found this on almost every page starting last night. I checked Norton 360 and there was no tracking cookies or no problem on my end. Here is a picture from the classifieds. The links in RED are double underlined. They all 3, go to a different place on the web. I don't know if the site is under attack or if it is a glitch.

Hope its just a glitch.

Got to go to work, Peace Out..!

FWIW, Norton is the first thing I rip off computers when someone asks me to look at theirs. More trouble than it's worth and doesn't do that good of a job.

The links look like key words. I also see you've got IE running. Check to see what ad ons might be installed. It's something from your local machine.

Ditto on the Norton crap. I had nothing but slowed down computers and issues. About a year ago I switched from IE to Google Chrome and Microsoft Security Essentials. So far none of the IE issues have happened.

I saw a special on Google Chrome, They keep track of everything you do and every where you go on the net, I think their excuse was marketing. I thought for security sake and privacy issues Chrome was not secure. Its like telling the gobberment everything you do. Thanks for the Intel anyway.

Try SRWare Iron for a browser, a chrome variant. It's more streamlined than firefox, and very fast. Also, it's chrome based, but not loaded down with the privacy issues of chrome

I loved Norton, then I hated Norton, and for now, I love it again.
At one time it gobbled up all my computing resources, and my computer became slow as mollasses. Now, with the newer versions, and newer operating systems, it's back on track. Just be sure to program if for your full system scan in the wee hours of the morning (2-4AM) and leave your computer up all night, but log off of all programs.

I let the computer do a full scan once a week.

No problems with anything but new spam from arabic authors. No idea how I got on their list, but I now get about 6-10 spams a day in my spam file written in arabic.

But no, I don't have any problems like what Don is seeing with his double links. These things are usually blocked at the Norton firewall before they even get access to my computer.

Finally, if you system is slowing down for any reason, it's probably the memory. Always get twice the rated memory minimum for your computer, or you'll definitely be needing a memory upgrade later. Better to do it upon initial purchase.

Memory is far more important than CPU speed in Microsoft based systems. They are based on virtual windowing systems where each window is essentially a second computer, and each computer requires it's own memory, so to speak. You cannot have to much memory.

Dell, My computer now is a quad core with 4 gigs of ram. Back 5 years ago that was unheard of and your right it did gobble up the recourses back then. I have had no problems so far. What I figured out I did was install a photo editor 2 days ago and unbenounced to me it had a few freebie add ons. That was my problem. Always good to know what other people are using and how to fix it.

Fantastic Don! You always come out on top.

(Except in the case of Mimi, you know, the one with the big lips)

This is a prime example of why I'm a "jerk" when it comes to friends and family computer work. I take away their admin accounts and give them locked down user accounts. Can't install much of anything. Saves me calls about it...

Thanks Speddmon, So you are saying you cruise along with out any problems since you have been using SRWare.......?
Yes, that is correct. Iron is kind of like Firefox was in the beginning, very sleek, no un-needed BS and doesn't use the activeX crap like IE does (which, by the way, is how a lot of your malware and spyware gets onto your machine). That combined with using a linux OS makes it pretty safe from viruses and all the crap you get with windows stuff.

If you constantly have to bale them out and you are getting nothing but a "Thank you" for your time and troubles, that is by far the best way to do it.

My first step too is to remove nortons, tell them to stop watching all the porn, then to install Spybot: search and destroy, then microsoft security essentials and mozilla firefox. I rarely ever get calls back for more issues. Its usually to do the same thing to other PC's
